All entrance doors to your home which have a Euro-cylinder fitted (commonly known as a door barrel) are at risk of attack, the cylinder is what you put your key into to lock and unlock your door, once the cylinder has been extracted the lock can be controlled manually. They are fit to upvc, composite, fibreglass and wood doors alike, it is likely to be fitted to one or more of your doors. Thieves are targeting the cylinder as they recognise it as the weakest point on your door. It does not matter if your door lock has 1 or 10 locking points they are all controlled by the Euro- cylinder and once this is breached access to your home can be gained quickly and silently in seconds. Most people are totally unaware the problem even exists until it is too late.
Using basic every day tools I decided to test the claims of just how quick and easy access can be gained, I carried out a demonstration on my own conservatory door which has a 7 point lock fitted with dead bolt, hooks, shoot bolts and roller cams and although I had genuinely never attempted anything like this before I was amazed that it took me only 54 seconds from starting the attack to gaining entry to my home. I have no doubt that an experienced criminal could half that time. For obvious reasons I cannot disclose the method used but if I can do it anyone can. Needless to say I have since fitted The Mole Security Handle to all 3 of my external doors in spite of having a dog and an alarm system.
